January 13, 2015 – What does it mean to Ruby Pinto that prosecutors instead of judges decide which kids are tried as adults? “It’s a system that targets the poor and especially people of color for harsher sentencing. We need to start looking at the person that enters the courtroom, not just the crime they’ve been accused of. Especially in the case of young people, a blanket policy that gives power to an interested party is not a smart approach.”
